Bill Cowdin earned his B.B.A. at Northwood University, graduating Cum Laude with dual majors in finance and business management in 1999. He went to work for a remodeling company, with his last role as Lead Designer/Salesperson.
In that tenure, he learned a lot about what should...and should not...be a component of a remodeling company. With that foundation, he formed Cowdin Design + Build in 2009, with the vision of being "the experts who will guide clients through the entire process – from the design phase to the construction phase."
He has grown from a one-man shop his first year with razor thin margins (and overhead), to a $4mm company in 2022 with nearly RA standard margins and profits.

In this session, Bill will share how he transitioned from a one-man shop, wearing all the hats, into the leader of a flourishing company where his employees are empowered to make important decisions, hold critical conversations with clients and trades and be leaders in their own departments, all while being held accountable to results.
He will share his view on a good work/life balance and how the above allows him to travel, spend time with family and still have a thriving, fun company.
